Class content
Alison Berry, a professional artist, runs small and friendly classes in Trinity Hall, Coleman’s Hatch, a delightful venue with plenty of natural light. Classes are held on Wednesdays and there are 3 sessions: 10am-12 noon, 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Full guidance is provided and beginners are very welcome as well as more experienced artists. We follow a termly programme which is very flexible with everyone progressing at their own speed.

The programme is varied with painting and drawing dominating but we also sometimes sculpt with clay and plaster. We explore different art movements from Cubism to Abstract Expressionism and different painting and drawing techniques. Still life using contemporary as well as traditional objects is popular, as is landscape work from photographs. A couple of times a year we have a professional model for life drawing and painting. Alison welcomes suggestions for topics and people can also work on their own projects.

Cost and materials
Please enquire about the class fee for 2024/25. This is kept as low as possible and includes drawing materials (paper, charcoal, chalk and pastels) as well as the use of easels and drawing boards and all handouts for each new topic. In addition to keeping the class fee as low as possible, good quality painting materials are available to buy at cost price. Occasionally there are small additional fees for example when we have a model. For your first class you do not need to bring any materials with you – they can all be provided! You can also try out and pay for just one class before committing to pay for the term.
